What to Bring? You do not need to bring anything. Simply read the book (or listen to the audio book) OR watch the movie before attending the meeting. It can be useful if you bring your physical or digital copy of the book.

Who? This is a fun book club event that men and women from the neighborhood potluck list are invited to, along with everybody else who is interested.

This will be the third meeting of this brand-new book club. We had so much fun at the first two meetings, with wonderful, fascinating discussions with great neighbors and new friends. If you like books or films or interesting discussions... or simply want to have fun meeting new people, I highly recommend RSVP-ing for this event.

The Book: When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life -- until the unthinkable happens. Where the Crawdads Sing is at once an exquisite ode to the natural world, a heartbreaking coming-of-age story, and a surprising tale of possible murder.

Where the Crawdads Sing is a 2018 coming-of-age murder mystery novel by American author Delia Owens. The story follows two timelines that slowly intertwine. The first timeline describes the life and adventures of a young girl named Kya as she grows up isolated in the marshes of North Carolina. The second timeline follows an investigation into the apparent murder of Chase Andrews, a local celebrity of Barkley Cove, a fictional coastal town of North Carolina. By July 2022, the book had sold over 15 million copies. A film adaptation was released in July 2022.

If you want to watch the film, it is available from various streaming services AND can currently be seen on the big screen at Pollack Tempe Cinemas: https://www.pollacktempecinemas.com/movie/316065/where-the-crawdads-sing

The Tempe Public Library (and other area libraries) have this book available to check out as an audio book, and physical printed book, and a digital printed book. And the film can be checked out on DVD.

Note: This is not a "potluck" event: We will not be bringing food to the event.
