Pi (π) is a mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, approximately equal to 3.14159

Whether you think that is exciting or boring, it doesn't really matter. The IMPORTANT fact is that every year, March 14 ("3.14") is International Pi Day!

Which is a day celebrated by eating pie. And we are all in on that.

This event is a potluck dinner AND pie-sampling party. Everybody who attends may bring ANY type of food. But: Guests are ENCOURAGED to bring a pie.

So if you want to bring fried chicken, that's fine. But even better? Bring chicken pot pie!

Guests may bring savory pies, OR dessert pies.

And there are MANY types of savory pies, including fish pies, Cornish pasties, chicken pot pies, Melton Mowbray pork pies, shepherd's pie, cottage pie, tourtière.

If you indicate what you plan to bring when you RSVP, then everybody looking at this page will be able to see what types of food people are bringing (but names are not displayed).

PLUS! Teresa Burstyn, one of Tempe's premiere professional pie makers, will be the guest of honor at this event!

Q & A

Are food assignments being made?
No.

May I RSVP without saying what I'm bringing and fill in that information later?
Yes.

Do I need to bake or make the pie myself, or can I buy a pie from a store or restaurant?
You can do whatever works for you. If you want to come to this event, we hope you will RSVP and come to the event, regardless of whether or not you plan to make a pie. You don't even need to bring pie! If you bring something else, I'm sure there will be PLENTY of pies at the event.

But what if there are too many dessert pies?
Just kidding. There's no such thing as "too many dessert pies."
