What: Tracy leads the Armchair Adventure Book Club. At the July book club meeting (Wednesday, July 31), we will be discussing The Descendants, a novel written by Kaui Hart Hemmings. Attendees may read the book OR watch the movie (or both). We will eat dinner while watching the movie.
About the movie: A land baron tries to reconnect with his two daughters after his wife is seriously injured in a boating accident. Filmed and set in Hawaii. Starring George Clooney, Shailene Woodley, Beau Bridges, and Judy Greer. The film was nominated for five Oscars at the 84th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Payne, and Best Actor for Clooney, winning one for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Anyone can come to the watch party, even if they aren't planning to go to the book club meeting. And anyone who wants to go to the book club meeting can watch the movie OR read the book (or both) on their own, without going to this watch party.
What should I bring? Guests may bring any food item they want to bring, enough to share with 10 to 12 people. Main dish, side dish, salad, bread, appetizers, etc. Bring food only. Special Bonus Points (!) if you bring a Hawaiian dish. Hosts are providing plates, utensils, cups, drinks.
