Free event.

Bruce and Moshe are both members of the neighborhood potluck group. Many of you have met them at neighborhood events. Both are Jewish. With regards to the current Israel-Gaza conflict, Bruce describes himself as being 90% pro-Gaza/Palestinian and 10% pro-Israel. Moshe, who was born in Israel, is 100% pro-Israel.

They are hosting a neighborhood potluck dinner featuring a discussion about the current Israel-Gaza conflict.

This will not be a lecture, presentation, or debate. This will not be an attempt to persuade anybody about any particular position. This will be a civil discussion among friends, about a serious topic.

After guests have arrived and had a chance to get a plate of food and get seated, Bruce will take one minute to read a written statement framing the topic. Then a one-minute statement written from someone from the opposite side will be read. After that, we will freely discuss the topic. Preston will serve as moderator. He has moderated over a dozen Socratic Potluck discussions.

Who will participate in the discussion? Everyone present will be welcome to participate equally. But during the discussion, only one person will speak at a time. All perspectives are welcome: Jewish, Muslim, Palestinian, and otherwise.

What should I bring? Guests will bring a dish to share. Enough for 10 to 12 people. Main dish, entreƩ, salad, side dish, bread, hors d oeuvres, etc. Bring food only. The host will provide drinks, plates, napkins, cups, utensils, etc. Hosts are already planning to bring traditional kosher food, but that is not required.

Inside or Outside? Entirely indoor event.

Who? Everyone is welcome. But RSVP is required. Space is limited. If you plan to come, please RSVP officially as soon as possible, before space runs out.

Location: In order to maximize our ability to hold a discussion, this event will take place in a private home. We specifically chose to not hold this event at a restaurant or a public venue. We will not need to worry about noise from overhead music, other groups, etc.
