Tai chi at Selleh Park! You'll enjoy getting together with neighbors for this event, whether you are a tai chi veteran, or learning about tai chi for the very first time.

The practice will be led by Dr. Darin Henry who has over 35 years of experience.

Dr. Henry and his family are long-time members of the neighborhood potluck group and other local groups and have already met many of you at other neighborhood events. He has led tai chi at Selleh Park for many years. These events take place monthly when the weather is not too hot, sometimes on Saturday mornings and sometimes on Sunday mornings.

Catherine often brings homemade traditional Chinese/Vietnamese sweets.

Why: This is a community event organized to help encourage neighbors to get outside, meet each other and do a low impact exercise. Dr. Henry offers this once-a-month park gathering from October through April, ending on World Tai Chi Day.

T’ai chi ch’uan is an extremely safe style of exercise that is also challenging. Beginning as a Chinese martial art, it was discovered that the practice of it conferred great effects on ones health.

What to Bring? No special equipment or clothing are required. Dress appropriately for the weather. OPTIONAL: Bring light snacks/refreshments to share.

Schedule: Tai chi form practice is held during the first hour. This is followed by 15 minutes of swords. (Not everyone participates in swords; some people simply watch or visit with each other during that time.) After sword practice, those who brought snacks socialize.
