FYI: I have seats D6407 and D6406, if you want to get seats near where I'm sitting.

Directed by Stanley Kramer, Guess Who's Coming To Dinner is a historically significant film, but also an immensely entertaining film. This romantic comedy-drama stars Spencer Tracy, Sidney Poitier, Katharine Hepburn and Katharine Houghton. The film was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, and won for Best Actress (Hepburn) and Best Screenplay.

The film was one of the few films of the time to depict an interracial marriage in a positive light, as interracial marriage historically had been illegal in many states of the United States. It was still illegal in 17 states, until June 12, 1967, six months before the film was released, and scenes were filmed just before anti-miscegenation laws were struck down by the Supreme Court in Loving v. Virginia.

We will be meeting in the lobby 30 minutes before the film starts. We will meet at 6:30. The film's start time is 7 PM. This theater is very strict about people arriving on time and won't let guests in if they arrive late. Please plan to arrive on time so we can meet each other, talk, have time to get our seats, look at the menu, enjoy the pre-show, etc.

After the film: The film will end at about 9:00 PM. No talking is allowed during the film. But after the film, feel free to gather with the group in the Majestic's bar/dining area for informal discussion about the film, or any topics we fell like talking about. (This is completely optional.)

NOTE: This screening was organized by the Majestic 7 theater and The Sidney Poitier New American Film School at ASU. The neighborhood potluck group is inviting members to attend this screening together, but we did not arrange the screening.
