Friday, January 12, 2024
2707 S College Ave, Tempe, AZ 85282

What? Gather for a neighborhood potluck dinner organized by Lori and the Tempe Neighborhood Potluck group to celebrate Broadway music. Event features:
- Broadway music sing-along led by Don and Alleen Nilsen, emeritus Arizona State University professors who lead sing-alongs every month at Friendship Village.
- Broadway music trivia challenge that everyone can participate in. (Multiple choice questions.) The winner will receive a prize!
- Great food.

Lori, who originally suggested the event, is a huge Broadway fan. She organized the event, is creating the trivia challenge questions, and will personally be the M.C. (master of ceremonies).

This is not a concert or a play or musical. This is a neighborhood potluck dinner event with some additional fun activities. There will be plenty of opportunity for meeting and talking with neighbors.

Who? Everyone is welcome! You do NOT need to be a member of the neighborhood potluck group to attend. You don't even need to like Broadway music! But everyone who attends should RSVP, to help organizers plan for appropriate seating.

What to Bring: Guests may bring any type of food. Enough to feed about 8 to 10 people. Bring a main dish, salad, side dish, etc. Hosts will provide drinks, plates, utensils, etc.

Broadway-Inspired Food or Name: We would love it if you can think of a Broadway-themed NAME for the food item that you bring. For example, if you bring crab salad, you could name the dish "The Little Mermaid's Sebastian Crab Salad." You can bring a label for your food, or we can provide a label at the event, but we encourage everybody to think of an appropriate name. (This is for fun. If you don't do this, it's okay! Don't let this keep you from coming to the event.)

Ingredients: It would be great if you can bring a piece of paper listing the ingredients, as some of our participants have dietary restrictions.

What to wear? According to NewYorkTheatreGuide.com: "From casual t-shirts, jeans and flip-flops to a cocktail dress or tuxedo, the spectrum of audience style is so broad that there is no specific dress code." But for added fun... Feel free to get into the spirit of the event by dressing up as a favorite Broadway character!

Perform? This is not a talent show or a concert. But we want to have one or two live performances. If you have the ability and interest to sing or dance or both, please contact us.
