The Bible Study sub-group is for anyone who is interested in group Bible study. If you sign up for this sub-group, it simply means you are interested in Bible study generally. You are not signing up to join or attend a specific Bible study group.

The neighborhood group is publicizing, partnering with or directly organizing multiple Bible study groups. These meet on different days at different places. If YOU have a Bible Study group you would like to invite neighbors to, please let us know so that we can post information about it here.

General Information

Bible study groups are an enjoyable and enlightening way to deepen one's understanding of the Bible while also making new friends and getting to know great neighbors.

When? Groups typically meet weekly at a regular time and day.

Who? In most Bible study groups, everyone is welcome. Men, women, all ages. (Anybody under the age of 18 who attends will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.) Christian, non-Christian, atheist, etc. The only requirement is that those who attend are interested in reading and thoughtfully discussing the Bible.

Intentionally Small: Bible study groups are intentionally kept small. These are not lectures or classes. Groups want everyone who attends to be able to participate in the discussion, which is difficult if the group is too large. If the number of people who want to participate grows to be too many, additional groups may be organized.

Location: Bible study groups may meet in private homes, public locations such as restaurants, churches, and other places.

Is this like a book club? In some ways Bible study groups are structurally similar to a book club. One big difference is that attendees are typically not asked to read anything beforehand. Attendees may read from the Bible as a group during the meeting, and then discuss what they have read. There is no "homework."

What to Bring? We recommend that everyone bring a Bible of their choice. Any translation, any edition is fine.

What to Wear? Most everyone will be dressed casually.

Can I Be a Host or Discussion Leader? Depending on the group, a Bible study group may have one person who serves as discussion leader each time, or that responsibility may rotate among attendees. The host of a group is not necessarily the discussion leader. A host may provide his or her home or location for the meeting, while another person serves as discussion leader.

Specific Bible Study Groups

Armored Bible Talk at Fusion Tea Lounge
When: Fridays at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Fusion Tea Lounge, 1806 E Southern Ave, Tempe, AZ 85282
Questions? Text Kelvin at: 661-435-7066

Kelvin leads a lively, dynamic Bible study group. Open to all kinds of people with different backgrounds. This is a well-established group which has been meeting together for a few years now. But the group loves to have new people join them!

These meetings are very much "open discussion." You don't need to be well versed in the Bible or anything. The discussion leader usually asks broad questions after looking into a scripture or two and allows people to give their input. The format allows people accustomed and not accustomed to the Bible to participate.

These meetings are not a place to debate. They are more of a place to freely discuss the topic and hear what people think. There's an overall lesson at the end of the day.

To put it simply, its a time where Kelvin leads a small Bible lesson/discussion. They have fellowship, and food since they're at a restaurant.

Bible Study at Bob's
When: Thursdays at 7 p.m.
Where: 3042 S. Country Club Way, Tempe AZ 85282 (private home)

Dr. Robert "Bob" Rhoton hosts a weekly Bible study group. This is a brand new group meeting for the first time on May 16, 2024. At the first meeting the group will decide together where they will begin their study of the Bible: Old Testament? Gospels? Epistles of Paul?

Bob Rhoton is the Founder of Arizona Trauma Institute. He trains professionals in the medical, education, and mental health fields to work with complex trauma. He has been invited to give presentations on the topic of trauma and mental health in many local churches.

Bob is also a avid student of the Bible. His plan is that Bible study sessions at his home will be led by other attendees serving as discussion leaders, and that he will simply serve as host. These will be genuine opportunities to study the Bible as friends and neighbors. These are not psychology lectures!
