Join us for an amazing neighborhood potluck event celebrating World Food Day!
• Lunch-Time Potluck Meal with Foods from Around the World!
• Live performance by the Maricopa 4-H Cloggers!
• Meet great neighbors, socialize, make new friends
This event was organized by Michele Nelsen, a member of the neighborhood potluck group who many of you know from pickleball and other activities. Michele teaches a great group of young cloggers who work hard at perfecting their talents in the traditional dance form of clogging.
By attending this event, you are providing an opportunity for the dancers to perform in front of a live audience. Michele and the dancers appreciate this immensely! We would love to have everyone in the neighborhood group attend this event.
What Should I Bring? Please bring any type of food item, enough to share with 10 to 12 people as part of the potluck meal. May bring a main dish, side dish, salad, bread item, appetizer, etc. Please do not bring drinks. Hosts will provide drinks, plates, utensils, cups, napkins, etc.
NOTE: Other than the performance by the cloggers, there will be no other presentation or program.
World Food Day is an international day celebrated every year worldwide on October 16 to commemorate the date of the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945. The day is celebrated widely by many other organizations concerned with hunger and food security, including the World Food Programme, the World Health Organization and the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
Clogging is a type of folk dance practiced in the United States, in which the dancer's footwear is used percussively by striking the heel, the toe, or both against a floor or each other to create audible rhythms, usually to the downbeat with the heel keeping the rhythm. Clogging can be found at various Old-Time and Bluegrass Music festivals.
