We are so excited about this event! The neighborhood potluck group is very fortunate to have so many wonderful, fascinating members. One of the most fascinating people in the group is world-renowned linguist Terry Hsieh. Terry is hosting an potluck dinner and wants you to join him!

Many of you have met Terry at neighborhood potluck events, which he likes to attend when he is here in Tempe and not embedded in the linguistic work that takes him all over the world. One of the areas Terry specializes in is endangered languages. He not only studies languages that are in danger of dying out, he also works to help preserve these languages and the cultures associated with them.

A native of Taiwan, Terry speaks over 20 languages. He is the founder of PolyglotTW, https://www.polyglot.tw/ and Multilingual Café, a multilingual language acquisition platform where participants can acquire any languages in an immersion environment.

At this special potluck dinner event, Terry will give a presentation about his work, and guests will have an unlimited opportunity to ask questions. Space is limited so that everybody can be together in one room, face to face with Terry. Terry is a scholar, an activist, and also a great friend and neighbor.

What to Bring: Guests bring any food item they want to bring, enough to share with 6 to 8 people. Main dish, side dish, salad, bread, appetizers, etc. Bring food only. Hosts are providing plates, utensils, cups, drinks, etc. (No additional desserts are needed, thank you.)

Here is a YouTube video of a fascinating speech by Terry:
