This is a choir performance accompanied by spoken word. Our friend and neighbor Barbara is one of the performers and we are looking forward to attending this remarkable musical experience!
800 years ago, St. Francis spent 40 days praying and fasting on a remote and rugged mountain called La Verna. One afternoon while in deep prayer, he had an extraordinary mystical vision and following that encounter, his companions began to notice marks on his hands, feet, and side resembling the wounds of Christ.
The musical event Quaranta Giorni explores the stories that led Francis to La Verna in the first place, and the legends of what happened on the mountain, as well as what followed that transformative experience.
The performance of "Quaranta Giorni" is part of the four-year celebration of the 800th Centenary of Centenaries of St. Francis of Assisi, made possible by a grant from the Diane & Bruce Halle Foundation.
