The purpose of this meeting is to provide a status update about the Shalimar Golf Course Development.
NOTE: This event is NOT a potluck event. Please do not bring food.
From the Save Shalimar website (https://saveshalimar.com/):
"The restrictive covenant on the Shalimar Golf Course is set to expire at the beginning of 2025. The current owners have entered into a purchase sale agreement with a developer. The developer has submitted preliminary plans to the City of Tempe that would bring high-density housing with the destruction of the property as we all know it. The current property is zoned AG, with a one home per acre density. The Tempe General Plan 2050 reflects land use for the Shalimar Golf Course as ‘low to moderate density’, with up to nine dwelling units per acre. Any change from the current one home per acre requires a zoning change. We must oppose and stop the rezoning. Please submit your email address if you are opposed to any plan that would eliminate this historic and iconic green space within our community. The Shalimar Association believes over-development is destroying Tempe residents’ quality of life and eliminating the character that has made our city great. Stop letting developers determine our future by making your voice heard."
