Kelvin leads a lively, dynamic Bible study group. Open to all kinds of people with different backgrounds. This is a well-established group which has been meeting together at Fusion Tea Lounge since January 2024. The group loves to have new people join them!
These meetings are very much "open discussion." You don't need to be well versed in the Bible or anything. The discussion leader usually asks broad questions after looking into a scripture or two and allows people to give their input. The format allows people accustomed and not accustomed to the Bible to participate.
These meetings are not a place to debate. They are more of a place to freely discuss the topic and hear what people think. There's an overall lesson at the end of the day.
To put it simply, it's a time where Kelvin leads a small Bible lesson/discussion. They have fellowship, and food since they're at a restaurant.
Guests who attend the event are welcome to purchase food or drink, but the definitely don't have to! The restaurant is very accommodating and welcoming.
Personal note from group coordinator Preston: I attended the Armored Bible Talk at the Fusion Tea Lounge for the first time last week on Friday, 17 May 2024. This was a lot of fun! Discussion leader Kelvin is not a pastor. He is an IT professional who works for a bank. He leads this Bible Talk group as a volunteer. It is very informal, but very worthwhile. Kelvin clearly loves the Bible and he clearly loves his Tempe-area neighbors. The Bible discussion itself was relatively short. Kelvin attends a non-denominational church and the discussion was very non-denomination. Most of the time people were there we were socializing and enjoying some great food. (I had the fish tacos and want to have them again!) Anybody could enjoy this event, whether Christian, non-Christian, non-religious, or anything.
