El Tataki Sushi Fusion
1410 E Southern Ave, Tempe, AZ 85282

Many of you know Kotone. She came from Osaka, Japan to study ESL (English as a Second Language) at Arizona State Univerity (ASU). Kotone has met many of you at various neighborhood events, at everything from book club to Epicurean Toastmasters to pickleball.

In Japan, Kotone works in a traditional sushi restaurant. She is very curious about about El Tataki Sushi Fusion, a new Japanese/Mexican fusion sushi restaurant near the home she is living while in Tempe.

So Kotone has organized this event to try out Mexican sushi at El Tataki! She would love to have you all join her!

Try it out for yourself, and ask her what she thinks as she experiences El Tataki for the first time.

Not a potluck event. Attendees will order and pay for their own food. This is a moderate-priced restaurant. Prices for all items are on the website.

About the restaurant: This is a very new restaurant in the location that used to be Sweet Tomatoes (in pre-pandemic times). The decor is great. Like something out of a Japanese action movie. Warning: Kumiko, who is from Japan and something of a sushi purist, ate there and wants people to know this is definitely not a traditional sushi restaurant. Well, yes, that's on the sign. It's definitely "fusion", not "traditional."

From the website: El Tataki Sushi menu features a great selection of Traditional Sushi Rolls, Mexican Sushi Rolls (Deep Fried), Oven Baked Sushi and our very own fusion sushi which combine both culinary inspirations to create some very unique rolls. Choose from over 50 sushi rolls options, Mexican Asian fusion unique appetizers, Mariscos dishes (Mexican Seafood) fresh seafood salads and a full bar.
