Free event.
Join us for our next Socratic potluck! Guests eat while discussing pre-announced thought-provoking questions.
And then (because this is also a pool party), continue talking about anything and everything while getting in the pool, or sitting poolside, as they prefer.
The Questions
• (provided by the host) Your investment advisor has said you need to dramatically cut down on your expenses. But then you have nieces and nephews and other relatives graduating or getting married or having birthdays and you would like to continue to give to them generously. What do you do?
[Other questions will be provided by guests who RSVP:]
• If you could add one global law, what would it be?
• ______
• ______
Examples of PAST Questions: In case you are unfamiliar with the "Socratic Potluck" format, here are some examples of guest-provided questions that were discussed in the PAST:
• If you could require that all high school students watch one non-documentary movie in order to graduate, what movie would you pick?
• At what age were you the happiest and why?
• What is a way you try to stay motivated in a rough time?
• If you could interview anyone who would it be and why?
Clark and Kathy have hosted four of these events at their pool already during the Summer of 2023. All of these events filled up. This type of event is very popular. So if you want to attend, RSVP soon, before space runs out.
The hosts had planned to take a break from hosting these events after Summer was over. But October in Tempe is still warm enough for this outdoor event, and the temperature of the water will still be fine to swim!
What to Bring: Guests may bring any type of food. Enough to feed about 10 to 12 people. Bring a main dish, salad, side dish, etc. When you RSVP, we strongly encourage you to specify what you will bring, so that others who RSVP can see what foods are on the list, and so that we can have a more balanced meal. You can always change your mind about what you are bringing.
Also bring: A swimsuit and a towel.
Isn't there another event on the same day? Yes. There is a big GAIN night event taking place at Selleh Park, located 0.3 miles away. You may consider the Socratic Potluck Pool Party an "after-party" party. Feel free to go to BOTH events. Or go to only one or the other. If you eat dinner at the Selleh Park event, feel free to simply snack or not eat at all at the Socratic potluck pool party.
