What: Neighborhood potluck dinner event with a thought-provoking discussion.
Who: Everyone is welcome: Men, women and children of all ages.
What to Bring: Guests may bring any type of food. Enough to feed about 10 people. Bring a main dish, salad, side dish, etc. Hosts will provide drinks, plates, utensils, etc.
Topic: Lynn Knutson is one of the neighborhood group's greatest supporters. She is an upbeat, positive person who is liked and admired by all who know her.
Most people who have met Lynn do not know that she has a story to tell. A story that touches upon important topics which affect all of us. At this dinner, she will share her story. Everyone will be welcome to ask questions and discuss these topics.
In 2019, Lynn was working at a grocery store. She was doing a carryout for an older customer when the hatch from the customer's SUV smashed down on top of her head. She sustained a traumatic brain injury and has been unable to work since that day. Workman's comp originally accepted her claim but then wrongfully closed it three months later. Lynn has been fighting for her health for nearly five years but still struggles daily due to her extensive symptoms.
Lynn recently returned from a specialized clinic in Chicago where she learned about promising treatments that may be able to help her. She is truly in a quandary, however, because the specialized treatments she requires are not covered by her health insurance.
Everyone can relate to one or more of the topics that make up Lynn's story: health care, trauma, injury, medical insurance, workmen's comp, legal battles, corruption in the medical industry, etc.
Is this a fundraiser that I will have to pay to attend? This is a free event that you will not pay to attend.
What if we want to show support for Lynn? Just coming to this event will be a big show of support. Additionally, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up that friends and neighbors can use to make a donation:
