Indoor, air-conditioned event.
"Colombiana" is one of Clark's favorite movies. So he has organized this potluck dinner watch party for anyone who wants to watch the movie with him while eating dinner and snacks.
"Colombiana" (2011) is an action thriller Zoe Saldaña. It was co-written and produced by Luc Besson. His other films include La Femme Nikita; Léon: The Professional; The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc; The Fifth Element; Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. "Colombiana" was directed by Olivier Megaton (The Red Siren; Transporter 3; Taken 2; Taken 3.)
"Colombiana" is about Cataleya, a 9-year-old girl living in Colombia whose family is killed by a drug lord. As an adult fifteen years later, she seeks revenge.
This free event is a watch party held in a private home. So we can pause the movie, make comments, ask questions, etc. After the movie, guests are welcome to stay and discuss the movie, or leave at any time.
Before watching, Clark will take about five minutes to introduce the film and explain its significance. He will provide a few questions to ponder while watching the film, and we can discuss these after we see it. (Similar to questions we discuss during Socratic Potluck events.)
"Colombiana" is rated PG-13 for violence, disturbing images, intense sequences of action, sexuality and brief strong language. IMDb.com's parental guide, with ratings-related content details, is here.
What to Bring: Guests bring any food item they want to bring, enough to share with 10 to 12 people. Main dish, side dish, salad, bread, appetizers, etc. Bring food only. Special bonus points if you bring Colombian food! (We don't know if anyone will actually bring Colombian, but we can dream.) Hosts are providing plates, utensils, cups, drinks and popcorn.
The plan is that after everyone has arrived (on time), we will get plates of food and immediately start watching the movie. Meaning: We will not be eating the dinner and then watching the movie, nor will we be watching the movie and eating dinner afterward. We'll eat while watching the movie. We hope guests bring food that everyone will enjoy for dinner, not just snacks.
